- • Reading Celebration Summer Reading Day featured special guests who read, told stories, and visited with classes. Children happily welcomed Monroe County Executive Maggie Brooks, Rochester City Councilwoman Carla Palumbo, Mayor Duffy’s Chief of Staff Jean Howard, and State Senator Joseph Robach. Leaders in the arts, education, and community involvement also participated as guest readers.
- Horizons Graduates Lead the Way
More than 40 individuals visited Horizons on special visit days. Horizons graduates Max Perez and Digno Caminero led visitors on program tours. To date, 90% of Horizons graduates have successfully completed high school, and all are continuing their education in college.
- Growing Together Harvest Festival & Field Day
Our first ever Harvest Festival was combined with Field Day to celebrate healthy eating and active lifestyles. The event featured delicious organic vegetables harvested and prepared by the children. Fun, active games were organized and led by the 8th grade class.
- Happy October! We’re delighted that Mark Hare’s visit to our program this summer yielded a column that sheds light on the achievement gap issue and positions Horizons as part of the answer in Rochester.
