Horizons is a community outreach program of The Harley School. Its primary focus is a six-week full-day summer program held at the Harley campus in Brighton for children in grades K-8. Now in its fifteenth year, the program is the second oldest of the eleven Horizons sites nationwide. It is made possible through the support of The Harley School community and generous gifts from corporations, foundations and individuals throughout the Rochester, New York area.
"During the school year, the rate of academic growth of children of lower socioeconomic status is the same as that of their more advantaged counterparts. During summer, the rate of growth among disadvantaged children stagnated while their more advantaged counterparts continued to experience growth... Exposure to intensive, high quality summer programs can close this gap."
